Location: Biddu
Nature of incident: Night rad/arrest
Date of incident: 06 February 2017

On 6 February 2017, about 10 masked soldiers raid the house of 45 year old mother from Biddu near Jerusalem and detain her 12 year old son without explanation.

Afaf is a 45 year old mother from the village of Biddu near Jerusalem.
“On 6 February 2017, at around 4:00a.m.I woke up to the sound of loud banging at the front door. I heard someone yelling at us to open up. I was terrified and worried about my husband and children; I was shivering and felt I was about to have a heart attack.”
“I immediately woke my husband up who rushed to open the main door. I quickly got dressed and followed my husband. About 10 Israeli masked soldiers in full military gear pointed their guns at us and entered the house.”
“The commander wanted everyone in the house to sit in the living room; I woke my children up and asked them to get dressed and told them that solders were inside the house.”
“We all sat in the living room with three soldiers aiming their guns at us. My daughter was shivering of fear and I was getting more and more worried about them. The remaining soldiers searched the house without causing any damage.”
“Each time my husband tried to find out from the commander what they wanted, the commander yelled at him and told him to shut up.”
“Then the commander asked for my son Hasan (12); I went mad and started to yell at the commander explaining that Hasan was still a child. The commander wanted to arrest Hasan without giving us any reason and without presenting any written documents. Three soldiers and the commander stayed in the living room while the rest of the soldiers left the house. The commander held Hasan while the three soldiers surrounded him, then they took Hasan and left the house at around 5:00 a.m.”
“I started to cry then my husband and I rushed to the window and watched the soldiers as they pushed Hasan into the back of a military jeep. By this time Hasan was tied and blindfolded.”
“At around 6:00 p.m. a commander called my husband and told him to come to Ofer to pay 3000 shekels in return for releasing Hasan on bail.”
“My husband went to Ofer and paid the bail; the lawyer told him that Hasan would be released after a court hearing on 8 February 2017. He also told him that Hasan was accused of throwing stones at a military jeep.

I found it difficult for me to sleep at night since my son was arrested. I worry about Hasan the whole time.
